PRESS RELEASE
Pangasinan's sectoral leaders throw support for Lacson's presidential bid
Different sectoral leaders in Pangasinan today committed their support for Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson's plan to run for President in the 2022 elections.
In a press conference, the Northern Luzon for Ping Lacson Movement (NL4Ping) said that the veteran Senator's "long experience as an upright, tough and no nonsense policeman, and unsullied track record as an incorruptible and fearless Senator and Executive official makes him the best presidential candidate in 2022."
"What we need is a leader of a new kind. What we need is a leader who will not divide us into different political colors, but heal and unify us as Filipinos. What we need is a leader who is strong and tough, yet fair and democratic. We yearn for an incorruptible and a competent leader, but whose adherence to the rule of law is not a hindrance to quickly respond to the people's needs and concerns," former Police Lieutenant Colonel Monalisa Asis said.
"Ping Lacson is the embodiment of these traits. Ang kailangan ng bansa ay tapang na may talino, at talinong may katumbas na katapangan. Si Ping ang matapang at matalinong lider na kailangan natin" she added.
The group said that it has already started organizing grassroots consultations with different sectors, non-government organizations and communities to build a broad and multi-sectoral constituency and machinery for Lacson in Pangasinan.
At the end of the press conference, a giant manifesto was unveiled by the group and signed by different sectoral leaders to symbolize their support for Lacson.
Present in the event were former San Fabian Councilor and Metro Dagupan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chair Andre Abalos, Pambansang Mannalon-Maguuma-Magbabaul-Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (P4MP) National President Oftociano M. Manalo, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chair John Loris C. Lamsen, fisherfolk leader Benjamin Sison and business leader Mark Joversom Muyano.
Last week, Lacson met with his longtime supporters in Pangasinan, a province which has almost 2 million votes. He said that he will officially announce his candidacy for the upcoming elections on August 5. #
