Lacson Prepared for Second Half of Campaign Period Minus Party
March 27, 2022 - With the quiet, steely courage of a true warrior. This is how independent presidential aspirant Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson will continue his electoral bid in the second half of the campaign period, minus a political party.
Lacson said he is used to being a "mandirigma" (warrior) throughout his 50 years in public service, both as law enforcer and lawmaker.
"Being a ‘mandirigma’ in all my public service life is useful. I am used to being alone in a lonely crusade against a corrupt system for the past 50 years. Nonetheless I am going all-in and all the way. Once a warrior, always a warrior," he said on his Twitter account Sunday.
“I am used to starting a crusade - though it might be a difficult and lonely fight at first, the people would eventually see my point and join my cause. This is shown each time that my name has been put on the ballot, and the people have always renewed my mandate to serve them," he added.
During his stint with the Philippine Constabulary and Philippine National Police, Lacson would go after criminal gangs and even those who engage in wrongdoing when transacting business with the PNP. He would reject offers of bribes and hush money, even if it meant incurring the ire of influential people - and even some colleagues who are on the take.
As Senator, he earned himself enemies by continuing his "No-Take" Policy and virtually taking up a lonely crusade in calling for the abolition of the pork barrel system due to its temptations for corruption.
Throughout all these, Lacson would answer the issues raised against him but would never stoop to personal attacks.
Last March 24, Lacson announced his resignation from Partido Reporma after some of its officials decided to endorse another candidate. On March 25, he disclosed that campaign expenses amounting to P800 million was the reason for Reporma's switch to another bet.
But Lacson also earned the respect of many in the party, who expressed their continued support for his presidential bid.
On Saturday, leaders and members of Partido Reporma in Bohol province tendered their irrevocable resignations from the party to support Lacson's presidential bid.
Now banding together as the "Lacson-Sotto Support Group" in Bohol, they pledged their "strong and continued commitment and unequivocal support" to Lacson's candidacy. These include Jagna Mayor Joseph Rañola and former provincial police chief Edgardo Ingking; Joseph Sevilla (1st district coordinator); Eduardo Aranay (2nd district coordinator); and Emmanuel Solomon Duites (3rd district coordinator).
They said they chose to support Lacson "because we believe that we need a leader like him who has a clear vision on what he wants to do for our country and people and a clear plan based on science and hard data on how to accomplish it."
"As a public servant who is proven to be incorruptible and one who leads by example, we need a leader like SENATOR LACSON who can tame the bureaucracy in embracing Good Governance and restore the full trust of the Filipino people back to the government," they added.
Earlier, members of Reporma's Cavite chapter similarly left the party to support Lacson. Meanwhile, senatorial bets Minguita Padilla and Guillermo Eleazar said they continue to support his presidential bid. Reporma founder and chairman emeritus Renato de Villa also expressed support for Lacson.

March 27, 2022 - Partido Reporma lost its key officials in Bohol province as they chose to stand by now-independent presidential aspirant Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
This was after the party shifted its support to Vice President Leni Robredo.
The pro-Lacson group filed their irrevocable resignations from the party Saturday, even as they reiterated their “strong and continued commitment and unequivocal support” to Lacson’s candidacy.
“From the very beginning, the support that we throw behind SENATOR LACSON was born out of pure volunteerism and not for any other personal considerations. We agreed among ourselves to voluntarily offer our time, money and effort in support of him because we believe that he is the only candidate who has the competence, experience, courage and strength to address the very serious crisis that our country is facing today due to the COVID-19 pandemic, corruption, unemployment, ballooning debt and bullying by China in our exclusive economic zone in the West Philippine Sea,” they said in their manifesto.
Signing the statement were Jagna Mayor Joseph Rañola and former provincial police chief Edgardo Ingking, who acted as the party’s co-chairmen in Bohol.
Also among the signatories were Joseph Sevilla, Eduardo Aranay, and Emmanuel Solomon Duites, coordinators for the first, second and third districts, respectively.
In their manifesto dated March 26, the five said they chose to support Lacson as they “believe that we need a leader like him who has a clear vision on what he wants to do for our country and people and a clear plan based on science and hard data on how to accomplish it.”
“As a public servant who is proven to be incorruptible and one who leads by example, we need a leader like SENATOR LACSON who can tame the bureaucracy in embracing Good Governance and restore the full trust of the Filipino people back to the government,” they added.
It was the latest show of continued support for Lacson, as Reporma senatorial bets Minguita Padilla and Guillermo Eleazar continue to support his presidential bid. Reporma founder and chairman emeritus Renato de Villa also expressed support for Lacson.
Last March 24, Lacson announced his resignation from Reporma after some of its officials decided to endorse another candidate, who turned out to be Robredo.
On March 25, Lacson disclosed that campaign expenses amounting to P800 million was the reason for Reporma’s switch to another bet.
On Saturday, Lacson reiterated that random talks with local Reporma leaders belied party officials’ claims that local officials were pressuring campaign headquarters for funds.

Manifesto of Support for Senator Panfilo 'Ping' Lacson in His Candidacy as President of the Republic of the Philippines
26 March 2022
We, the Provincial Leaders of the LACSON SOTTO SUPPORT GROUP in the Province of Bohol, in the interest of transparency in presenting our position in the light of the transfer of support of the Partido Reporma to another candidate, express our strong and continued commitment and unequivocal support to the candidacy of SENATOR PANFILO 'PING' LACSON to be the next President of our country. Following the lead of SENATOR LACSON, we are also tendering our irrevocable resignation as members of the Partido Reporma effective today.
From the very beginning, the support that we throw behind SENATOR LACSON was born out of pure volunteerism and not for any other personal considerations. We agreed among ourselves to voluntarily offer our time, money and effort in support of him because we believe that he is the only candidate who has the competence, experience, courage and strength to address the very serious crisis that our country is facing today due to the COVID 19 pandemic, corruption, unemployment, ballooning debt and bullying by China in our exclusive economic zone in the West Philippine Sea.
As patriots who love our country, we chose to support SENATOR LACSON because we believe that we need a leader like him who has a clear vision on what he wants to do for our country and people and a clear plan based on science and hard data on how to accomplish it. As a public servant who is proven to be incorruptible and one who leads by example, we need a leader like SENATOR LACSON who can tame the bureaucracy in embracing Good Governance and restore the full trust of the Filipino people back to the government.
It is in consideration of the foregoing that we sign this Manifesto of Support for SENATOR PANFILO 'PING' LACSON in his candidacy as President of the Republic of the Philippines,
Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Mayor Joseph A. Rañola, co-chairman
Gen. Edgardo C. Ingking, co-chairman
Gen. Joseph Sevilla, 1st district coordinator
Eduardo B. Aranay, 2nd district coordinator

March 26, 2022 - The future of the Philippines and of Filipinos - and not "money politics" - should determine the outcome of the coming May 9 election, independent presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson said Saturday.
Lacson said this means voting for the most qualified leader, even as he noted that the feedback from recent debates and forums showed him to be the most knowledgeable in the management of government.
"I am perceived to be the most knowledgeable in management of government, way above the rest, and yet that does not factor in the surveys? Nonetheless, I will continue to champion my track record, qualities, platforms, and standard of what the Philippines needs," Lacson said.
Also, Lacson pointed out that he rejected "money politics" and stuck to his principles and integrity when he resigned from Partido Reporma as its chairman and member.
On Thursday, Lacson announced his resignation from Reporma after some of its officials decided to endorse another candidate. On Friday, he disclosed that campaign expenses amounting to P800 million was the reason for Reporma's switch to another bet.
"Kung corrupt ako, madali ko sanang maibibigay ang P800 milyon na hinihingi nila (If I were corrupt, I could have easily produced the P800 million the party's officials asked). But I don’t have the guts to steal or accept bribes. Nothing can ever change my principles and tarnish my integrity. This fight is not just about me and the present. It is about our country’s future," he said on his Twitter account.
He also cited recent random conversations with Reporma local candidates to ask about ex-Speaker and party president Pantaleon Alvarez's claim that they were pressuring the campaign headquarters to provide them funds. "So far, no one has confirmed such assertion. Their common parting words: TULOY ANG LABAN!" Lacson said.
Meanwhile, Lacson reiterated his stance against money politics, where candidates give voters what they want during the campaign period - then get back their "investment" by engaging in corruption during their terms - three years for local posts and six years for national posts.
"As long as 'money politics' dominates our elections, it will be a vicious ‘cycle of revenge’ between candidates and voters: voters having a field day during the campaign period and candidates exacting vengeance for three or six years of victory. Kawawang Pilipinas," he said.

March 25, 2022 - Many members and supporters of the former Partido para sa Demokratikong Reporma (Reporma) are asking what happened to the Party yesterday … why Sen Ping Lacson resigned as Party Chairman and Cong Bebot Alvarez as Party President announced that Partido Reporma is indorsing VP Leni Robredo as its new candidate for President.
Ping, as a man of honor and courage, very clearly explained in a press statement why he had to resign as Chairman of the party.
On the other hand, Cong Bebot Alvarez talked about the developing “electoral terrain in 2022” apparently as the reason for Partido Reporma Sec. Gen. Gov Jubahib of Davao del Norte and his followers, and for himself, why they are shifting their support from Ping to VP Leni.
For my part as Chairman Emeritus of the new Partido Reporma, I must admit that I was taken by surprise on the events yesterday as I had no inkling that such an unfortunate scenario would happen to our new party.
Obviously, I cannot do anything about it anymore as I consider both Ping and Bebot as mature politicians and capable of making decisions based on personal conviction.
As to my position at hand, let me say this: vote for the Presidential candidate of your choice, and consider it as your contribution to the establishment of an honest and competent government that can bring about a better future for our beloved country.
As an original indorser of Sen Ping Lacson for President, let me further say: I will stick with Ping and continue to indorse and support him. Like a true soldier in combat, i hope that those fighting for him in this political battle will continue the fight and not leave him behind.
Maraming salamat po.

MANILA, Philippines — The spokesman of the Partido Reporma, and around 60 Cavite-based chairmen and officers have resigned from their respective posts and left the party in the wake of the resignation from the party of presidential candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson.
“In view of Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson’s resignation as chairman of Partido Reporma, and given the fact that I am totally committed to support him in his candidacy for president, I am also tendering my resignation as the party spokesman effectively immediately,” former Magdalo Rep. Ashley Acedillo said in a statement on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday announced his resignation from his party Partido Reporma.
“Today, I officially announce my resignation as chairman and member of Partido ng Demokratikong Reporma, which effectively makes me an independent candidate,” Lacson said in a press conference in General Santos City.
Before his resignation, Lacson served as the party’s chairman. He took his oath in July last year, days after he announced he will run for president in the 2022 polls.
Partido Reporma was Lacson’s first party since 2004, when he first sought the presidency as an independent candidate.
The party was founded by former Defense Secretary Renato de Villa in 1997. It became “dormant” after the 2004 elections and was revived in 2020 by former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who serves as its president.
With his resignation from Partido Reporma, Lacson is now again running for president without a party.
His vice presidential running mate, Senate President Vicente Sotto III is from the Nationalist People’s Coalition, which has yet to formally endorse Lacson as a presidential candidate.
