Partido Reporma spox, Cavite execs resign from party

MANILA, Philippines — The spokesman of the Partido Reporma, and around 60 Cavite-based chairmen and officers have resigned from their respective posts and left the party in the wake of the resignation from the party of presidential candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson.

“In view of Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson’s resignation as chairman of Partido Reporma, and given the fact that I am totally committed to support him in his candidacy for president, I am also tendering my resignation as the party spokesman effectively immediately,” former Magdalo Rep. Ashley Acedillo said in a statement on Thursday.

“I shall continue, henceforth, to support and campaign for Ping Lacson in his campaign for the Presidency as his official spokesman,” he added.

Asked if he will stay as a member of Partido Reporma despite resigning from his position, Acedillo told INQUIRER.net: “I am leaving the party altogether. This is in support of Ping Lacson’s decision to resign as party chair.”

The chairman of the party’s Cavite Chapter, Atty. Rafael Rodriguez, also tendered his resignation from his post together with local party chairmen and officials. Lacson hails from Cavite, which is considered as his bailiwick.

“It is with regret that I, as chairman of Partido Reporma, Cavite Chapter, together with all the district and municipal/city chairmen hereby tender our resignation from our respective posts in the party,” Rodriguez said in a letter to Partido Reporma president former Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

“Our collective stand is in line with the decision of our presidential candidate, Sen Ping Lacson, to resign from the party and push through with his presidential aspiration as an independent candidate,” the letter further read.

This, as Rodriguez expressed their continued support for Lacson’s presidential bid.

“Despite this party separation, we shall, however, remain together in our dream of a better Philippines,” he added.

Like Acedillo, Rodriguez also said “we left the party altogether to support” Lacson.

Rodriguez told INQUIRER.net that “about 60 officers and chairmen” of the Partido Reporma’s Cavite Chapter resigned and left the party.

On Thursday, Lacson said he is leaving Partido Reporma after he was informed by Alvarez that party officials in Davao del Norte have decided to endorse another presidential contender.

“Considering that it is at the behest of these top-tier officials that I was recruited as a member and the party’s standard-bearer and thereafter elected as its chairman, I believe it is only decent and proper — consistent with my time-honored uncompromising principles — to make this decision,” Lacson said in a press conference in General Santos City.

Lacson leaves Partido Reporma

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday announced his resignation from his party Partido Reporma.

“Today, I officially announce my resignation as chairman and member of Partido ng Demokratikong Reporma, which effectively makes me an independent candidate,” Lacson said in a press conference in General Santos City.

Before his resignation, Lacson served as the party’s chairman. He took his oath in July last year, days after he announced he will run for president in the 2022 polls.

Partido Reporma was Lacson’s first party since 2004, when he first sought the presidency as an independent candidate.

The party was founded by former Defense Secretary Renato de Villa in 1997. It became “dormant” after the 2004 elections and was revived in 2020 by former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who serves as its president.

With his resignation from Partido Reporma, Lacson is now again running for president without a party.

His vice presidential running mate, Senate President Vicente Sotto III is from the Nationalist People’s Coalition, which has yet to formally endorse Lacson as a presidential candidate.

LALABAN TAYO!
PING LACSON FOR PRESIDENT!

STATEMENT of Presidential Aspirant SEN. PING LACSON

March 24, 2022 - Today, I officially announce my resignation as Chairman and member of Partido Ng Demokratikong Reporma, which effectively makes me an independent candidate for the presidency in the upcoming May 2022 elections.

Yesterday, I was informed by the party president, former Speaker Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez, that their slate in Davao del Norte, led by the party secretary-general and Provincial Governor Edwin Jubahib, has decided to endorse another presidential candidate.

Considering that it is at the behest of these top-tier officials that I was recruited as a member and the party’s standard-bearer and thereafter elected as its chairman, I believe it is only decent and proper – consistent with my time-honored uncompromising principles – to make this decision.

In the face of these recent developments, allow me to say, like a true-blooded warrior that I am all my life, I will continue this fight in pursuit of my quest to serve my country and our people, as your Chief Executive – if God and the Filipino people will it, come May 9, 2022.

To Partido Reporma president, former Speaker Alvarez, Secretary General Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib – and the rest of the Davao del Norte Reporma candidates – let me tell you this: I harbor no ill feelings towards you and anyone who may hereafter opt to join them in their new choice of a presidential candidate.

Sa lahat ng myembro at kandidato ng Partido Reporma sa labas ng Davao del Norte – who joined the party because of our shared advocacy to fight graft and corruption in pursuit of good governance, all for the sake of our beloved country and people – with or without party affiliation – I am not leaving you behind. I assure you that I will be your leader and supporter in our shared convictions and aspirations.

God bless our beloved Philippines.

SALAMAT SA IPINAKITA MONG TOTOONG KULAY!

Teen Kangkong Chips Entrepreneur to Get Help from Go Negosyo

March 23, 2022 - Josh Mojica, the Cavite-based teen kangkong chips entrepreneur, is getting help from experts on how to market his products abroad.

Go Negosyo, an advocacy that promotes entrepreneurship, agreed to help 17-year-old Josh on the matter, after Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson asked for their help.

"Mr. Joey, Mr. Elmer, baka pwede nating tulungan ang bata kasi napakalaki ng kanyang potential (Mr. Joey, Mr. Elmer, maybe we can help Josh because he has great potential)," Lacson told Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion and mentor Elmer Relente during the "Kandidatalks" program aired Wednesday on One PH.

"We cannot do away with requirements. Ang hinihingi ko lang maayudahan, ma-guide ang bata (All I ask is that Josh get the proper guidance)," he added.

Last March 5, Lacson visited Josh in Mendez, Cavite. He said he hoped Josh's success can be replicated but added the government must also do its part for this to come true.

He noted Josh, who now has 100 employees and suppliers from all over, is trying to market his product to Canada, Japan and United Arab Emirates but has run into problems involving various requirements from government agencies.

"That’s just a microcosm of what’s happening in the entire country," Lacson noted.

For his part, Concepcion said they are willing to help Josh. "Kung pwede nyo ibigay ang pangalan ng entrepreneur para kami ang tutulong sa kanya para umunlad ang negosyo niya (Can you give us the name of the entrepreneur so we can help him grow his business)," he said, adding Elmer will help mentor Josh.

Lacson has vowed to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) hit hard by the pandemic to get back on their feet.

Among his plans for them are: comprehensive and targeted fiscal stimulus packages; eviction and foreclosure moratoriums, “lower-interest-bigger loans” programs from state-run financial institutions; and employee-retention incentives to encourage enterprises to literally go back to business.

Lacson is also proposing a vigorous “Made in the Philippines” campaign to encourage buying and consuming more of our locally-made products and even services.

The Lacson-Sotto tandem is running on the platform of fixing the government's ills (Aayusin ang gobyerno, aayusin ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino) and going after thieves especially in government (Uubusin ang magnanakaw).

Lacson-Sotto Tandem Eyes Central Financing Facility for MSMEs

March 23, 2022 - Instead of several government agencies offering various assistance packages to micro-, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) badly hit by the pandemic, why not pool their funds into one financing facility?

Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson said this would make it easier for MSMEs to seek assistance, whether they were affected by the pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, climate change, or other calamities.

Lacson said he and his vice presidential bet, Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, intend to set up such a mechanism should they be elected into office.

"Ang iniisip namin ni Senate President Sotto rito, i-streamline natin. Bakit di natin i-pool sa isang pondo kung saan ilagak natin para alam ng MSME na tinamaan ng pandemya o anumang crisis, giyerang Russia sa Ukraine, sa climate change, kalamidad, meron agad silang pupuntahan na ahensya kung saan accessible sila (Senate President Sotto and I were thinking, why not pool all these into one fund to help MSMEs, whether they are hit by the pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, climate change, or other calamities? The bottom line is they will know where to seek assistance)?" Lacson said at the "Kandidatalks" program aired Wednesday on One PH.

He noted MSMEs account for 99.5 percent of our enterprises, and 63.2 percent of our labor force.

Yet, he said that while various government agencies have at least 20 programs including microfinancing and credit facilities, MSMEs may not be aware of them.

Lacson said he and Sotto were surprised to learn that there are such programs under the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Agriculture, among others.

Worse, he said many MSMEs resort to borrowing from private banks because they did not fully understand the requirements to avail of government assistance.

"Isip namin ni SP, streamline natin (Senate President Sotto and I are thinking of streamlining all this)," he said.

Solo parents’ group backs former PNP chief Eleazar’s Senate bid

MANILA, Philippines – An advocacy group for solo parents took to social media to encourage its followers to vote for former PNP chief and senatorial candidate Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar in the May 9 elections.

Eleazar was among the seven senatorial candidates endorsed by the National Council for Solo Parents, Inc. (NCSP) on Saturday (March 19).

The endorsement was formally announced by the group on their Facebook page which has more than 13,000 followers.

“After a meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Council for Solo Parents, we hereby endorse the candidacy for the position of senator of the following: #23 Gen. Guillermo Eleazar,” the NCSP said.

Eleazar thanked the group for their support as he vowed to include in his priorities the welfare of solo parents, especially in helping them cope up with the challenges of the pandemic.

Eleazar said he acknowledges solo parents’ sacrifice in balancing their time between raising their children and earning a living.

He said this proposal would entail the collaboration of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Lacson Prepared to Put Life on the Line Anew for Filipinos

March 23, 2022 - After risking his life for Filipinos in his 50-plus years in public service, Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson is prepared to once again put his life on the line for the Filipino people - this time, as the leader the nation badly needs.

Lacson said Saturday evening that he is offering his competence, qualification and experience - the traits a leader needs - to fight for the Filipino people.

"Mula sa pagiging sundalo at alagad ng batas na lumaban sa terorismo, rebeldeng komunista at pusakal na kriminal; bilang Chief PNP na nagpatino at naglinis ng hanay ng kapulisan; bilang Senador na kailanman hindi nabahiran ng korapsyon, nais ko pong ipagpatuloy na magsilbi sa ating bayan (From a soldier and law enforcer who has fought terrorists, communist rebels and criminals; as a Philippine National Police chief who cleansed the police force of rogues; and as a Senator who never allowed corruption to taint him, I wish to continue giving my brand of service to our nation)," he said in his closing statement at the Commission on Elections' First Presidential Debate.

Lacson spent 20 years in the Philippine Constabulary and 10 in the PNP, and 18 years in the Senate. He also served as Presidential Assistant on Rehabilitation and Recovery to help those affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

As a law enforcer and lawmaker, Lacson earned enemies due to his integrity, as well as his stern discipline and leadership by example.

The Partido Reporma standard-bearer pointed out that among the current crop of presidentiables, only he has placed his life on the line in the service of the Filipino people.

He noted the nation now faces humongous problems, ranging from an economy battered by the pandemic and by the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine; a ballooning debt that has exceeded P12 trillion; and corruption in the government, among others.

"Among all the Presidential aspirants —narito man o laging absent — walang sinuman kundi ako ang sadya at aktwal na nagsugal ng sariling buhay sa pagligtas sa panganib ng sinuman (Among all the presidential aspirants both present and absent here, no one else has laid his life on the line in the Filipino people's service)," he said.

He added it takes a competent, qualified and experienced leader to turn campaign promises into reality.

"It takes a leader who is competent, qualified and experienced, to turn the promises of unity, Bilis Aksyon, Angat Buhay into reality. Kailangan natin ng Pangulo na handang ipaglaban kayong lahat para ipanalo ang sambayanang Pilipino (We need a President who is ready to fight and win for the Filipino people)," he said.
