ATIN ANG WEST PHILIPPINE SEA!
Sen Ping Lacson

Sen Ping Lacson Pumunta sa PALAWAN At Bumisita Sa PAG-ASA Island!

Members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command (WesCom) welcome Partido Reporma chairman and standard-bearer Panfilo “Ping” Lacson upon his arrival in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Saturday morning (November 20).

Sen. Ping Lacson is in the province to make a scheduled visit to Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan to consult with and check on local residents and fishermen in the area amid recent tensions over the West Philippine Sea.

Lacson assures: No martial law under my leadership

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Panfilo Lacson has one assurance to the public should he be elected as president of the country in next year’s national elections: No martial law under his leadership.

Lacson made the remark after he was asked in a press forum if he will declare martial law under his leadership as a known “disciplinarian.”

“’Yan ang pwedeng itaga sa bato… Dun sa martial law, hindi mangyayari (You can cast it in stone… Martial law won’t happen),” Lacson said.

One of Lacson’s competitors for the presidency is former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Marcos Sr. has been hit for the number of human rights abuses following his declaration of martial law.

Meanwhile, in his final State of the Nation Address back in July, President Rodrigo Duterte suggested that his successor should declare martial law if he or she wants to reform the government and rid it of corruption.

The suggestion was made after the President again claimed that nobody could eradicate corruption across the bureaucracy.

But under the 1987 Constitution, the president may only proclaim martial law in case of foreign invasion and rebellion when public safety requires it.

Lacson wants political turncoats held accountable: ‘Parang nasa daily menu na’

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate and Senator Panfilo Lacson is pushing for tighter rules against political turncoatism, saying that there should be some accountability from politicians involved in such practices.

In a press forum, Lacson was asked if switching between political parties, particularly during election season, is a mockery of the election system.

“Unang-una, dapat i-strengthen natin yung political party system. Yung pagswi-switch, pagtu-turncoat, usong-uso e. Parang nasa daily menu na natin,” Lacson said.

(We should strengthen our political party system. Switching parties and turncoatism has been so prevalent. It’s like it’s part of the daily menu.)

“Siguro bigyan natin ng ngipin yung against turncoatism na kung saan may karampatang responsibilidad o accountability pag nag-switch ka ng partidong hindi naaayon sa rhyme or reason,” the senator added.

(We should give some teeth against turncoatism where those switching political parties should be held accountable when it’s not reasonable.)

Lacson said that accountability does not necessarily have to be in form of penalties.

Just a few days before declaring her vice presidential bid, Davao City mayor and vice presidential candidate Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio quit her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) and joined the Lakas-CMD party.

Lacson Pushes 'Reinvented' 4Ps to Ensure Sustainable Livelihood

November 18, 2021 - From merely doling out cash to providing sustainable livelihood and employment opportunities.

This is the reinvention of social welfare programs such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) that Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson envisions under his administration, should he win the presidential election in 2022.

"We must invest in our human capital. It is high time that we reinvent the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) with the overarching principle that every Filipino should bridge the poverty line with a sustainable livelihood or employment opportunities," Lacson said before the Rotary Club of Manila.

"Hence, we will streamline and rationalize our social welfare programs to avoid redundancy and worse, wastage in the use of funds. All of our programs will have an overarching objective to drive our people back to work, not subsist on dole-outs all their lives," he added.

Lacson, standard bearer of Partido Reporma, also pushed for a "balik-trabaho" program for those laid off during the pandemic and are willing to work but had no job opportunities.

He said the government must roll-out uninterrupted Cash-for-Work programs by encouraging public-private partnerships, by tapping the corporate social responsibility arms of corporations, "in pursuing initiatives to provide cash payments under 'decent work' conditions."

"Our concept of progress— from making employment and business opportunities to creating a competitive market to be an economic powerhouse — is anchored on one goal: to empower and uplift the lives of our people," he said.

Lacson said this can be done through skills development trainings and higher honorariums for those who will work as barangay tanods or as hardworking barangay health workers and contact tracers.

He also reiterated the need for a paid internship program where poor and deserving college undergraduates, even junior and senior high school students, can undergo paid internships in government offices and in private firms.

"All of these will create a dignified sense of living and kickstart our economic activities," he said.

"Employment deals will be the cornerstone of our social welfare agenda. Hahasain natin ang kakayahan at kaalaman ng ating mga mamamayan para maging kapakipakinabang na bahagi ng lipunan (We will hone the skills of our youths so they can become productive members of society)," he added.
